The University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center celebrated 10 years of Markey Research Day this past Tuesday, May 7, 2019, with nearly 450 attendees, 138 poster presentations and oral presentations.

After reviewing more than 90 applications for the program, a Markey committee has selected 20 high school students to enroll in the ACTION program for the 2019 class.

The team led by Glazer and Heidary is currently focusing on structure-based drug design to try to target a specific enzyme that is involved in cancer initiation, malignant progression and, most important, resistance to chemotherapy. And they have had some recent success.
