BMI Core Series: Lunch, Demo and Learn
“Natural Language Processing: Application and Use-Cases in Biomedicine”.

Textual narratives such as discharge summaries and pathology reports form a major component of a patient's EMR. A different domain of text that is undergoing exponential growth is biomedical scientific literature. Patient generated text in the form of social media posts on Twitter, Reddit, and online disease specific forums is now a popular target for minor health information. In this talk, Dr. Kavuluru will present high level applications and strategies for leveraging these varied textual data sources for biomedical research, healthcare operations, and epidemiological surveillance.
