Abstract:
Biomedical terminologies and ontologies are critical to clinical documentation, health information
exchange and health analytics, and also play an important role in translational research. In this
presentation, we will review how clinical features are reflected in disease names, briefly present
the major terminologies used in clinical systems (SNOMED CT, LOINC and RxNorm), and
examine some of the major use cases for biomedical terminologies.
